Mieke Teirlinck (°1959) paints an increasingly haunting figurative oeuvre that primarily gives shape to fragility and defencelessness. Often it is about what society prefers to keep hidden: pain and loneliness. Her subjects are depicted in a very isolated and no frills way, but also with humour and self-mockery.
