Pursuing wealth and power, yet living a spiritual life. On a pilgrimage to Compostela or to Tomorrowland after all? The exhibition CELIBATARY DIVAS shows the work of more than sixty contemporary artists who each in their own way represent this eternal quest for escapism. In the Herkenrode Refuge House, the doubting 21st person enters into this discussion in installations, painting and multimedia with the strong women of Herkenrode Abbey: always looking for redemption, but also free-spirited landowners. Their former place of refuge provides the perfect location for a topical art exhibition on a highly topical theme.
