Malou Swinnen

CC Hasselt and art gallery De Mijlpaal collaborated with Malou's two sons to set up a double exhibition: together, they made an idiosyncratic, spontaneous and intuitive selection from Malou's very wide range of photos - in exactly the same way as Malou went about it.

Photographer Malou Swinnen died in the summer of 2020. The Hasselt-based photographer had a very personal way of working: she was always inspired by spontaneous encounters with people with a special attraction, whom she then managed to get in front of the camera in her own charming and unforced way.

There, a dialogue developed between the photographer and the person being portrayed, and this can be seen in the technically perfectly executed photos: the individuality of each person splashes off the surface. The 2D photos almost become 3D sculptures.
